WELCOME TO SCOTTSVILLE

There are some places that invite you to stay awhile.

In downtown Scottsville, Kentucky, the historic square is still a gathering place. Local shopkeepers know their customers by name. Music spills onto Main Street on summer evenings, historic storefronts hold new ideas, and there’s almost always a good reason to pull up a chair.

Heart of Scottsville is the nonprofit Main Street organization working to honor Scottsville’s heritage while creating a thriving, welcoming downtown for future generations. We bring people together, champion local businesses, care for the character of our historic district, and create experiences worth making the trip for.

Come wander the square. Shop local. Catch a First Friday. Meet somebody new. And discover why we believe there’s something worth protecting and building in our hometown.

What It Means to Be Main Street

Main Street is not a one-time beautification project. It is a proven, long-term approach to helping historic downtowns stay useful, active, beautiful, and economically strong.

As a nationally accredited Main Street America program, Heart of Scottsville works through a preservation-based economic development model. That means we care about the buildings, the businesses, the public spaces, the stories, and the people who make downtown matter.

  • We help create the conditions for downtown business, entrepreuership, and investment.

  • We care for the look, safety, walkability, and usefulness of the district.

  • We tell the story of downtown and create reasons for people to gather here.

  • We build the partnerships, volunteers, resources, and leadership to sustain the work.

What We Are Not

Heart is not a city department.

Heart is not only an event committee.

Heart is not a grant program.

Heart is not a replacement for private property maintenance.

Raising the Standard for Safety Downtown

Heart of Scottsville’s 2025 GM on Main Street Grant helped fund a raised crosswalk project on the Scottsville Public Square, improving pedestrian safety, accessibility, and the everyday welcome of historic downtown.
