Gospel Night

Scottsville holds a storied heritage of Southern gospel music, rooted in community gatherings and shaped‑note singing schools dating back to the early 1900s .

The Allen County Singing Convention, formed in 1912, made The Tabernacle its home, drawing thousands to all‑day sings through the 1930s and ’40s. In fact, in May 1941, over 6,000 people gathered for a single convention day, marking gospel music as both a religious anchor and a major social event.

Fast forward more than a century, and Scottsville’s identity continues to be shaped by gospel music. Local quartets, singing schools, and radio station WLCK AM 1250 still air Southern Gospel today.

Let’s honor nearly 120 years of musical tradition together.

Join us September 5th for Gospel Night at First Friday Street Fair + Car Show - brought to you by our friends at Mills Real Estate and Auction Company.
